Project Verification

The DEMOCRASI Project has external project verification from two sources, Guidehouse and Regen. These documents provide additional information from a third-party viewpoint, to confirm the solution is well rounded and imparts value to both UK and Canadian markets, as well as addressing the potential for engaging other markets.

Cost Benefit Analysis

Guidehouse will develop an economic model to quantify the financial, technical and environmental costs and benefits of the Democrasi project, targeting the Technical use cases listed above. The Technical use cases will be evaluated with quantitative benefits and costs except for Transactive Energy and Islanding use cases which will be evaluated with qualitative benefits and costs. The model will be developed in parallel to the demonstration project and results will be quantified once the pilot has been completed.

The report compares the UK and Canadian electricity systems, with a focus on Great Britain and Ontario. Some similarities are found, particularly in the generation sector. However, there are less similarities evident in the other sectors, such as in electricity retail for example. The report will discuss them in detail.
